¡¡ Similar in nature to the argumentative essay, persuasive writing can be more informal and opinionated. Persuasive writing is designed to try and change the reader¡¯s mind, or to assure them, if already on board, that what they think is indeed, correct. When trying to persuade, the most important factor is the audience; the more you understand them the better. For successful persuasion, the more research that goes into analysing the audience the better. I said that twice - it is important! Simply, if you do not know who they are or what they think, want, or like, you are wasting your time. Examples abound in marketing paraphernalia, but extend everywhere – even to convincing your boss to give you a pay rise. |
